Lutheran Services in America (LSA), a not-for-profit organization, is an alliance of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), and their nearly 300 independent Lutheran health and human service organizations. These organizations served 1 in 50 Americans last year across the U.S. and the Caribbean. Building on the strengths of people and communities, Lutheran organizations address a wide range of needs, including those of the elderly, children and families, people with special needs, communities, prisoners, and people with disabilities.

LSA builds on a century-and-a-half of Lutheran organizations’ service to their neighbors. Today, new ministries develop continually as needs are identified. Staff members and volunteers in LSA organizations treat acute and chronic illnesses of body and mind, provide care for the whole person in need, and strengthen and empower individuals and families to care for themselves, for one another, and for their communities. Services are available to all regardless of religious affiliation. In fact, the vast majority of people served by Lutheran organizations are not Lutheran.

In addition, LSA provides the following specific services: Growing Connections, a searchable database to locate services near you, Leadership Development and Consulting, Organizational Assessment and Intervention Services (OASIS), Public Policy Advocacy, and Networks. Networks offer staff persons who work in LSA member social ministry organizations an opportunity to meet in working groups which provide professional development and integrated services.
